MAC was invited by St John Community Care SA to be part of their committee group, which looks to explore service options for their client group in the community. Topics of discussion for the year include transport, gardening, emergency response, support service etc.
“St John transport program” was the topic for discussion Wednesday 13 February 2013. Nina Telford represented MAC as one of the guests attending who were classed as ‘experts’ in their field of work.
There were around 30 participants contributing to the transport model discussion. Questions such as, “how clients are assessed?”; “what type of transport is available?”; or “how are the needs of people with special needs such as CALD or people with a disability being addressed?” were put forward to the group to discuss and debate. Comments and feedbacks were acknowledged and noted.
To be part of this important committee provides MAC with the opportunity to put forward suggestions on how services to people from CALD backgrounds can be improved. Also, it helps to provide a link between mainstream agencies with MAC and CALD communities.
