‘The importance of Culture, Values and Attitudes in Aged Care’

  • Let’s talk about best practice models and practical examples of quality culturally appropriate care
  • Let’s apply tools and strategies in your everyday care practices
  • Let’s participate in interactive discussions
  • Let’s ‘play with’ resources

Within this workshop we will discover how Culture, Values and Attitudes impact and prescribe meaning to:

  1. Celebrations
  2. Expressions of feelings and emotions
  3. Folk and traditional behaviours and items
  4. Food preferences
  5. Gender roles
  6. Personal space and Time
  7. Religious, spiritual and ethical rituals
  8. Social rituals: ways of addressing people

As referred to in the Royal Commission Final Report, we will highlight the Aged Care Diversity Framework: the actions we all can take to ensure aged care services meet the individual needs of older people from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

We invite you to share with us YOUR specific scenarios and examples to be discussed on the day. Email them to Vicki prior the workshop, 

Lets work together towards a shared goal of achieving quality of life for our clients, our residents and our colleagues.

This workshop is targeted to those involved in lifestyle and activities in aged and community care

Bookings: Must be made prior to the workshop online. (Please note no telephone bookings will be accepted.)

Course cancellations: Multicultural Aged Care reserves the right to cancel events if sufficient numbers are not achieved. In the case of a cancellation by Multicultural Aged Care all registration fees will be refunded in full.

Registration transfer or cancellation: Notification of cancellation or transfer of registration must be provided in writing either by fax 8352 1266 or email registration@mac.org.au. No refund is available for any cancellations/transfers received 48 hours or less prior to the start date or for non-attendance. A substitute delegate or a credit transfer is welcome. Please notify Multicultural Aged Care in writing of any substitution or credit transfer as soon as possible.
