Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first edition of e-Mac for 2013.

The inaugural event in the MAC calendar will be the CALD Workers’ Network Meeting, to be held on Thursday, 14 February 2013, where we look forward to welcoming you back and sharing with you all the planned activities for 2013.

Meanwhile, some agencies are currently getting ready for their Quality Review, while others are looking at implementing their Quality Review Improvement Plan actions. Some of the gap areas identified by recent reviews are

     Police checks
Charter of Rights and Responsibilities for Community Aged Care
Policy for ‘client not responding to a scheduled visit or service’

The Department of Health and Ageing have indicated that they would like to see CALD agencies working with MAC in the lead up to their Quality Review, as well as implementing the Post Review Improvement Plan.

“Are you ready for a Quality Review?” workshop has been scheduled for Wednesday, 20 February at MAC. The session aims to take you through the planning, evidence gathering and general preparation in readiness for the Review.

A MAC events schedule for January – June 2013 is attached for your perusal. (Please note that dates are subject to change, but we will endeavour to ensure there is minimal change.)

The learning outcomes have been included to allow you to plan ahead. An expression of interest form is also attached to assist you with the planning of staff training.

Lastly, here at MAC, we would like to say “Happy Lunar New Year”, and wish everyone all the very best for yourself, your families and communities.
